I just felt like I had to blog about the Royal Wedding that took place today. I mainly want to blog about it, so that I have on record that I was around when it happened. I will admit that by about Wednesday, I was getting pretty tired of hearing about the couple. It seemed like they were all over television and the internet. I really do not care about all the small details, but I guess there are those out there that do care. I also felt the need to blog about the special day just because I am pretty sure I said that I would be in a previous blog. I am sure many of you may not give a care, but I think it is pretty cool that I was alive to remember something as "important" as this event.
I did NOT get up to watch the wedding because I was sick and did not really care at that time of day, but I did watch a replay video of it later on in the morning and I of course, was mesmerized the whole time. I thought the bride wore such a gorgeous dress. Everything was so beautiful and perfect and I enjoyed reading and hearing about the different things that are passed down as well as the traditions of over there. I was amused when I read something that stated that Catherine "modernized" her vows by leaving out the part that said she would "obey" her husband. I never realized that something like that was in the vows in the first place. I also read that there would be a "second dinner or such" take place later on today that queen would not be invited to. The reason she would not be there, is because it is an event for just young people to "let down their hair" and enjoy the moment. There is something about watching a wedding or being at a wedding that gives me a new love for my husband and just makes me feel young. Almost like I am truly a kid again. I felt exhausted after my wedding, but I cannot even imagine how exhausted this couple will be by the days end with all the activities that have taken place.
I also enjoyed seeing all the beautiful and unique hats that everyone was wearing. I think hats make the ladies look so sophisticated and elegant. On a side note, even though I am not a hat kind of girl, I think that the women in the United States should embrace that style.
If my two cents worth matters, I think that William did a very good job, and his mother would have definitely approved. I always thought that Princess Di was a beautiful and respectable woman and Kate does not seem to be any different. I wish the newly wedded couple the best of happiness in their marriage, and I hope that it is a very long-lasting marriage for they surely seem like they make a great couple from what the news shows us.
I did know that the two were going to get married, but I didn't know when. I definately did not get up to watch it. I heard bits and pieces of it on the radio to work and from my coworkers. I think that there is too much publicity about all of it. I am in no way interested in it at all. Then again, I don't find too many things interesting.
