I just felt like I had to blog about the Royal Wedding that took place today. I mainly want to blog about it, so that I have on record that I was around when it happened. I will admit that by about Wednesday, I was getting pretty tired of hearing about the couple. It seemed like they were all over television and the internet. I really do not care about all the small details, but I guess there are those out there that do care. I also felt the need to blog about the special day just because I am pretty sure I said that I would be in a previous blog. I am sure many of you may not give a care, but I think it is pretty cool that I was alive to remember something as "important" as this event.
I did NOT get up to watch the wedding because I was sick and did not really care at that time of day, but I did watch a replay video of it later on in the morning and I of course, was mesmerized the whole time. I thought the bride wore such a gorgeous dress. Everything was so beautiful and perfect and I enjoyed reading and hearing about the different things that are passed down as well as the traditions of over there. I was amused when I read something that stated that Catherine "modernized" her vows by leaving out the part that said she would "obey" her husband. I never realized that something like that was in the vows in the first place. I also read that there would be a "second dinner or such" take place later on today that queen would not be invited to. The reason she would not be there, is because it is an event for just young people to "let down their hair" and enjoy the moment. There is something about watching a wedding or being at a wedding that gives me a new love for my husband and just makes me feel young. Almost like I am truly a kid again. I felt exhausted after my wedding, but I cannot even imagine how exhausted this couple will be by the days end with all the activities that have taken place.
I also enjoyed seeing all the beautiful and unique hats that everyone was wearing. I think hats make the ladies look so sophisticated and elegant. On a side note, even though I am not a hat kind of girl, I think that the women in the United States should embrace that style.
If my two cents worth matters, I think that William did a very good job, and his mother would have definitely approved. I always thought that Princess Di was a beautiful and respectable woman and Kate does not seem to be any different. I wish the newly wedded couple the best of happiness in their marriage, and I hope that it is a very long-lasting marriage for they surely seem like they make a great couple from what the news shows us.

Tragic Weather
As I was trying to think of something to write about today, all I could seem to think about were the deadly tornadoes that went across parts of the United States this week. I am so saddened to see the pictures on the news and hear about the lives lost. It is all too familiar of what we experienced in 2008.
Weather is something that has always been of interest to me. I am amazed by the awesome powers that the weather has. It is amazing how so many tiny snowflakes can multiply and cripple an area such as what happened to this area in late winter. Even more astonishing to me is how a tornado can tear up so much in just a matter of moments. I have a great amount of respect for severe weather though, so I could never be a storm chaser. The other day, right after the tornadoes occurred, I read an article that stated that there were over 800 tornadoes touch down in the United States just in the month of April. I cannot seem to come across that article to cite it, but if that is true, that is absolutely astonishing. I have always heard that everything happens for a reason, but sometimes I cannot help but question how everything that came from these storms is for a reason. I definitely do not see how it can be a good reason.
As I was reading the news today, an article that caught my attention, mentioned that a tornado that went through Smithfield, Mississippi had winds of 205 mph. A tornado with winds of that intensity is considered an EF-5 tornado, which was making it the first EF-5 tornado since 1966. Link 1 Another article I read, stated that the death toll from these deadly tornadoes is now up to around 318 and close to 300,000 people are without power. Things like this can be so hard to cope with and it seems like when there is a lack of power, or water, it just makes things all the harder and much more miserable. My heart goes out to the people that have been effected by this. It is so sad when people lose their lives so suddenly. I know that it is sad any time a life is lost, but when someone has been warned that they will die at some point, it seems that it would be a tiny bit easier at least, to cope with it. The article also said that this storm outbreak is the deadliest storm outbreak since the great depression. Link 2 This is also the most devastating disaster that the United States has faced since Hurricane Katrina.
With all that being said, I feel more fortunate than ever. If I understood the weather right, earlier this week, this same line of severe storms were expected to go through the Joplin area. However, we were fortunate enough that these storms moved past us. I also have a friend that was my best friend from grade school that lives in Alabama that I heard from. I feel very thankful knowing that she is safe as well as her family.

A Big Secret I'm Letting My English Class In On
On Wednesday of this week my husband and I found out that we are going to be parents again. This is something that we were going to try for in a few months from, but God knows what is best in our lives, and we are expecting one now instead of later. I should say, hopefully it is just "one." We have decided though that since we are very early into the pregnancy and my job is very strenuous and stressful, that we should not annouce it to anyone until at least the second week of June. However, we are also toying the idea of not telling anyone, and just letting everyone figure it out on their own, in their own time. I still look somewhat pregnant from my son, in my opinion, so I may be able to pull it off for quite awhile this time compared to my first time around.
With all that being said, I responded very differently to finding out with this baby than I did with my son. With my son, I felt like I was going to faint when I found out, but then I was so excited I could not hardly contain myself. I believe this is because I was new and had NO IDEA what was in store. With this baby, I instantly started crying because I had a million and one fears hit me. I am just getting back to working on my bachelors degree, I have a very physically challenging job that I will most likely be stuck with because people will not hire pregnant women. I also, had the fear of how on earth I can ever be a decent mother to two children. I was just getting to where I was seeing the results I wanted from all the weight I gained from my son. I also had a rough pregnancy and an even rougher delivery with my son. Last but not least, I have the scare of how we can ever afford this baby. After hours and hours of stressing and crying, while dealing with an ecstatic husband, I finally decided to leave it in God's hands. He has given us this baby, and I know that He will take care of us and make sure that the baby is taken care of as well. Now, I am just praying for an easier pregnancy and delivery than the last one. Last but not least, I think this one will be another boy!!!!

Lindsay Lohan
As we all most likely aware, Lindsay Lohan is a popular news topic, and has been for quite awhile now. As I was looking desperately for a topic to blog about for this week, the one with Lindsay Lohan's name in it caught my eye. I feel like this girl has it rough in a way, and sometimes I cannot help but want to blame some adults that were in her life as a child for her turning out this way. I feel that girls like her have been put on public display a such a young age always seem to struggle with issues such as her. I just feel like these kids are pushed to fame for doing a great job at something, but when they are pushed to fame, they lose the quality time that with their family. By losing this quality time, they are not allowed to be taught important things that other children are taught. Also, I think possibly that their popularity may make them feel invincible, and once they realize that they are not invincible, then it is to late, and they are in the kind of trouble that Lindsay Lohan is in currently. Some people also believe that some just enjoy the attention that she is getting out this deal. If so, maybe we should blame the news people for broadcasting every move she makes. I also try to keep in mind though, that news often broadcasts all the bad that happens, and unfortunately, not so much the good that happens.
I read that she is spending time in jail again for violating her probation. Not only is she getting jail time, but she is to do community service as well. This probation she violated comes as a result of getting out of jail early the last time. Sadly enough, according to the news, she has already been to jail three times. She has obviously not learned her lesson with the past times that she has spent in jail. However, she obviously is not mature enough to learn her lesson yet or something. This is where I put the blame back on the adults that pushed her at too young of an age. According to the news video on ABC, she even thought that she could get out of going to jail until a different day for religious reasons since it is Good Friday. I really feel like if she was truthfully religious she would be obeying the laws of the land and taking responsibility for her actions, not violating probation, stealing, drugs, and all the other things she has been involved in. I know that I am stricter than most on my religious beliefs and what I think religion will do for one. However, with all that being said, I really do hope that someone can find something that will work for her, and help her mature and learn her lessons so that she will not be a main topic in our news way too often.

Decisions.....
I have been debating a tough decision for the past month. My time is running out and I must quickly decide what I am going to do with my summer. I will be honest, this is my first semester of school since 2005 and I am not as young as I used to be. I am also a mother, wife, and an employee. When I was in college before, I was just an employee, and I did not work all that much. With all that being said, I need to decide if I am going to take summer classes or not. I really want to just move on with this school stuff so I can graduate as soon as possible, but however, I am SO burnt out and worn out that summer seems to be the only relief in sight, other than after I have received my degree. If I take off this summer, I could focus on working more and saving up money that we lost when I was unemployed for almost six months. However, if I take at least one summer class, that is tough, I could be one step closer to my goal. The goal being, the owner of a Bachelor's degree.
My other reasons for thinking I should take the summer off, is that I feel like I get to spend little to no time with my husband and son. My son is just a year old, and this summer would be a great time to tackle potty-training and start teaching him things that I am so often to busy to teach him for being wrapped up in school. My poor husband has had to pick up so much slack for me since I have started back to school. He is so awesome for cleaning the house, putting away laundry, and helping me keep the dishes clean. However, he is a guy, and he does this at random times and it gets pretty bad before he does it. If I don't take classes this summer, at least I could be a decent wife, and maybe we could even get in a date or two.
As I already stated, I don't even have a clue which one I will do right now. Take at least one class or take the summer off. However, I just hope I make the best decision for everyone involved, so that we can be the happiest possible.

Plastic Surgery
Last night as my husband was on the internet, he came across a story that was in the news. It completely astounded me when my husband read off the title of the news story. It was Girl Gets Plastic Surgery To Avoid Bullying. First off when I read this, I was saddened that bullying has become such a big issue. I believe bullying can be cured in the home with correct parental guidance, work, and necessary punishments. However, in today's world, punishment is a big deal. It takes nothing for an individual to abusive when punishing a child. Therefore, I could also blame more than just parents for bullying become so rampid in our world. Second of all, I was sickened by the thought of a parent allowing this, let alone the medical personnel that okayed this procedure. Also, on the thought of bullying, adults need to think before they speak. Many times the things that come out adults mouths is ridiculous, and if a child or young adult was to say it, it would be considering bullying.
This child is only seven years old, and the parents felt like this was the only option so that girl would quit being teased about her ears. Her name is Samantha Shaw and she was born with "cup ears," she also had a "lop ear" on the right side, and the mother as well as the daughter worried that she would be bullied as she grew older, thus the reason for doing the plastic surgery. Her plastic surgeon stated that he would recommend plastic surgery on children depending on the issue. If it is cosmetic alone, he does not suggest it. However, with this girl, he feels like this is an issue that is much further than cosmetic and it is okay. This surgeon feels that any abnormalities will put children at a risk for being bullied.
As I watched the video of this child, it was hard for me to not be happy for the girl after she had the procedure because she looks so happy. http://news.yahoo.com/video/health-15749655/child-gets-plastic-surgery-to-avoid-bullies-24902719;_ylt=AmAgImRyLrcoxl3cbsrePx2z174F;_ylu=X3oDMTE3MTBtbjVlBHBvcwMyBHNlYwNtb3N0LXBvcHVsYXIEc2xrA2NoaWxkZ2V0c3BsYQ--#video=24918610 However, it is still sad that this girl had such a big procedure done at such a young age just because people today are so rude. Hopefully when people read this story, instead of just criticizing everyone involved like I was quick to do, I hope that it causes people to stop and think about what comes out of their mouths that causes these things to happen.

Facebook and Bullying
Facebook is something that almost all of us have nowadays. If we do not have one ourselves than one has at least probably heard of it. I really enjoy my Facebook somedays, however, there are some days that it disgusts me. Those are the days, as well as the days I'm overwhelmed by school, I just stay far away from Facebook.
This week has been one of those weeks that Facebook has disgusted me to the limit. I am very frustrated by the people that get on there, and make comments on someone else's status that seem innocent, but yet you personally know that are intended to hurt or bring someone else down. I saw that so many times this week that I decided I just had to stay away for a few days until this person cools down. There is obviously not just one individual that does this unfortunately. I just noticed this particular individual carrying on.
I did get curious however on the rules and regulations of facebook, so I looked them up. Under the Terms section of Facebook I did find this. Rule #6 under the Statement of Rights and Responsibilties of Users Safety portions states this, "You will not bully, intimidate, or harass any user." http://www.facebook.com/#!/terms.php I could probably get this user in trouble if I wanted to, but yet I don't know that Facebook would actually find what they are putting a problem unless they would have a way to see posts that this user puts and then deletes once they have caused the hurt intended. I do feel bad for the people that are being harrassed though, and I may just get brave and report it one day. Bullying is something I do not like, and I have always said I will not tolerate. I don't feel like this should be an exception, but I need to find the courage to take action. It may seem mild and innocent in and of itself right now, but as the anger towards the individuals grows, it could become serious.
Facebook is definitely an awesome resource when used for its intended purpose. However, it is so easy to use it to bring someone down. I hope that I can find the courage it takes to start speaking up whenever I notice that someone has been bullying via Facebook.

Radiation, Radiation, Radiation
I will be the first to say, that I do not really comprehend everything with the radiation and nuclear power plant situation that has been going on in Japan since the terrible disasters that occurred there last month. I was reading the news though, and I did come across an article on the topic that grabbed my attention.
According to experts, the radiation is not supposed to become a threat to sea animals or anyone who eats them. I knew that this threat of radiation could obviously have effects on people on land, but I had never considered the sea creatures, or the fact that people eat them. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110404/ap_on_sc/us_sci_japan_radioactive_water The article states that since the ocean is so vast, that the main threat is to the sea creatures that are close to land. It stated that it would be possible for those sea creatures to suffer from genetic mutations as some point if the dumping continues. Also, the ocean is diluting the radiation that comes into the water, which is also keeping most of the seafood safe for eating. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-03-31/sushi-safe-from-japan-radiation-as-ocean-dilution-makes-risk-negligible-.html This may not matter much to many individuals, but as for me, I find it very important, because I love to eat fish. It is my preferred choice of meat most of the time. However, it is possible that the bigger fish that are not typically caught may have a higher risk of being contaminated more significantly by the radiation.
With all the sea life that was damaged from the big oil spills, it is nice to know that more of it is not in danger.

Growing Up and Life Choices
Over the past two years I have been trying to decide what I want to do with the rest of my life. Since working in the dental field over the past three and a half years, I decided that I wanted to do dental hygiene. However, my first problem with entering that field, is that we as a family cannot afford me to not work full time. The prerequisites for dental hygiene would require me to either go to school during the day, five days a week, or go to school at night. Neither of those options are family friendly for my situation, and neither of them would work out at this point in life. My second and most important problem with choosing dental hygiene for a career path is the availability of jobs. My brother graduated in 2008 as a dental hygienist and he is one of the few in his class that have a job in their field. He has a job due to the fact that I was an assistant and helped him get on and the office I worked for at the time. If I am going to spend money on college, I want the peace of mind knowing that jobs in my field will be available in this area at the time of my graduation.
With that option being out of my choices, I am left with the decision of which career path to take. Family is so very important to me, that I want to make sure I have a family friendly career. I also know that there are some careers out there that would never suit me. There also the careers out there, that I do not think I could ever pass the requisites required because I am terrible at math. I am finding this decision to be one of the most stressful decisions of my life so far. I want to do the right thing for me as well as my little family. Maybe it is a sign of immaturity on my part, but I know that I am not the only one that struggles with this. I just hope that I can decide something within the next year, so I can put my mind at ease a bit more than what it is at this point.

Is Your Pet Eating Healthy
Anyone that has been following my blog has by now figured out that I think my pets are tops. Along with having a pet that I love comes the need to take special care of it's health. Each time we go to buy dog food, my husband and I can never agree on what dog food to buy. Some dog food just seems outrageously overpriced and others are so cheap that I know it can't be made out of anything more than junk. My husbands theory is "buy the cheapest out there." However, my theory is that the cheapest dog food cannot be healthy, and I always want to spend a little more. So how do you know which dog food is best for a pet?
My cousin has raised dogs most of her life. When we adopted a dog from her back when I was a child, she told us to never feed our dog dog food that had by-products or bone meal listed as one of the first three ingredients. Keeping that in mind even til this day, I cannot let myself buy my pets food with those ingredients listed. However, I started paying closer to attention to the ingredients recently, and some of the more expensive dog food has one of those two listed right at the top of the list. I have finally decided to research this and settle it once and for all. For my sake at least.
According to http://www.callofthedog.com/healthydogfood.php and http://www.healthyfood4dogs.info/blog/dog-food-ingredients, any dog food that contains wheat, barley, and corn as the first of ingredients, have little to no nutritional value to a pet. By-products are also not nutritional if given in large amounts like commercial dog food gives. All commercial dog foods claim to be better than the other, but the truth is, all dog foods are still full of the same chemicals that could be harmful to a dogs health over time. For a dog to technically be fed a healthy diet, one would have to prepare the pet's meal from scratch and make sure it is full of raw meats, and healthy veggies.
So, with all of this being said, I guess my husband may just get to start buying somewhat cheaper dog food than what I have been accustomed to buying.
