Earthquakes, Tsunami's , Family, and Friends

About 4:30 A.M. this morning, I was awake when I would have preferred to be sleeping peacefully.  After lying there for over thirty minutes with sleep seemingly far away, I decided to grab my phone and check up on what was going on in the Facebook World.  Never did I expect to see something that would cause so much shock, awe, and concern.

I discovered that an earthquake of the fifth greatest magnitude in a hundred years had hit Japan.  I also saw there that people in the United States were now at risk for a Tsunami as well as Japan.  http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/03/11/thousands-roam-tokyo-streets-massive-tsunami-devastates-region/  This absolutely astounded me, and I began to think about all of my old high school classmates as well as my best friends.  Some of these individuals were in Hawaii, some in California, and some in Japan.  I frantically waited to see them post something on Facebook in hopes of knowing that they were alright.  Thankfully, all of the posted within an hour of me discovering all of this, and they are all safe.  The areas that got hit the hardest are not the areas that these individuals reside in. http://video.foxnews.com/v/4580409/anatomy-of-a-tsunami#/v/4579888/incredible-video-massive-wall-of-water-sweeps-ashore-in-japan/?playlist_id=87485

So many times I hear of catastrophes like such as mentioned, but I never have had it hit "close to home."  All in all I am glad they are all safe, but at the same time, my heart goes out to those that have lost so much and that are suffering like we will never know.

  1. I am so glad you heard from your friends and they are all safe. I woke up early this morning too and have been watching the news all day. It is so sad. My heart goes out to all of them going through this right now as well.

  2. I am glad to hear your friends are safe. I know a few people that live in Japan as well and they are also safe. My family and I are praying for all of those involved.
